Wind farm Hohe See relies on WINDEAcare
Emden. The holistic acute – and emergency medical care concept WINDEAcare remains the leading product for the construction and operation of offshore wind farms. EnBW and the Canadian energy company Enbridge Inc. - with their new offshore wind farm Hohe See - also put their trust in the comprehensive expertise of the partners of this unique concept in offshore rescue.
The Hohe See wind farm, a joint project of Enbridge Inc. and Energie Baden-Württemberg AG (EnBW), is being built far from the coast in the North Sea. Around 95 kilometers north of Borkum and about 100 kilometers northwest of Helgoland, it will occupy an area of about 42 square kilometres. In a later construction phase, the smaller offshore wind farm Albatros will be added, also supported by WINDEAcare. Together, the two offshore wind farms will produce 2.5 billion kilowatt hours of electricity for 710,000 households by 2019.
As of February 2018, WINDEAcare will be fully responsible for the care and rescue of sick or injured persons 24/7, 365 days a year during the entire installation period. Each partner contributes its unique know-how, which creates a complete overall concept: Northern HeliCopter has a rescue helicopter with flight and medical crew in St. Peter-Ording. Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe supports the construction activities with an experienced paramedic offshore. He is the first point of contact for medical questions and especially emergencies on board and in the wind farm. The Offshore Medic is supported by a special telemedicine device from IQ. medworks, which records data and sends it to the associated centre at the Klinikum Oldenburg. The patient is cared for by trained medical specialists via live connection to the hospital. The coordination of possible rescue operations is ensured by the emergency medical dispatch & support centre VENTUSmedic of Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe. The partners from WINDEAcare have been working together for more than ten years, minimizing the interfaces for the customer and optimizing the deployment time for rescue operations.
“With WINDEAcare, we have found the ideal partner for our latest project. The combination of constant readiness, high level of expertise in the offshore sector and innovative concepts, as well as the comprehensive project experience of WINDEA Offshore have been the decisive factors in our choice ", says Michael Fritz, HSE Manager of EnBW. “We are pleased about this further success. The offshore wind farms are being built further and further away from the mainland, with all the consequences for crews offshore and our responsibility. Our holistic approach has proven its worth here, from permanent support to rapid emergency response through powerful helicopters and our own dispatch centre,", says Frank Zabell, Managing Director of Northern HeliCopter.
